Spiritual Earplugs
God speaks all the time. The Divine is never not speaking. She is not hard to hear. He is always answering creation. The universe is filled with the echoes of love's call. I have never not known life without that voice. Always deeply whispering, speaking through the heart. Listening has been my journey, my challenge. Early on my unwillingness to listen created arrogance and egotistical driven fear. For years I tried to ignore the sound of his voice. Alcohol, ambition and contempt were my spiritual earplugs. But I couldn't run from the sound that penetrates the heart. Listening begins as we acknowledge our need to love and be loved. Until then the road is fraught with selfish endeavors. Place yourself unreservedly in a position to be loved and you too will begin to hear God's voice...always. It is a never-ending extension of the way you yourself want to be loved. Implanted by a Creator that speaks through the heart.
