Changing Lives Through The Practice Of Spiritual Direction
TableTop is a registered 501(c)3 organization
WHY?
The relationship built between spiritual directors and directees can be life changing, if not life saving. Throughout Scripture we are challenged to take care of each other. The book of Galatians asks us to restore those who are struggling, bearing each other's burdens so they may take pride in themselves as they take in God's incredible love.
WHO WE SERVE:
We turn no one away. Your support means we can offer spiritual direction free to those who can’t afford traditional levels of counseling. The single mom caring for her family. The unemployed needing healing and career transitioning, the ex-con looking for community, the recovering addict needing grace, the husband looking to strengthen his family, the corporate executive needing to find wholeness. The grieving, the dying and the orphaned. TableTop Ministries provides time for spiritual direction and accountability to transform lives. Donating to TableTop means people won’t worry about the burden of paying for healing.
WHAT WE DO:
Tabletop Ministries provides spiritual direction for individuals, couples and groups who are looking to deepen their relationship with God. TableTop Ministries is safety for individuals and groups to help find healing, forgiveness, freedom, and discover true self. We refer to this endeavor as "your life's work."
WHAT IS SPIRITUAL DIRECTION?
The practice of spiritual direction is thousands of years old. Claimed by every major religion and wisdom tradition, the director goes by many names; anam ćara, murshid, guide, priest, witch doctor, sage, chimbuki, shaman, guru, among others. For Christians the first visible sign of spiritual directors came out of the Desert Fathers and Mothers of Egypt, Syria and Palestine in the third and fourth centuries. People sought connection with the Divine through holy men and women experienced in relationship with God, living dedicated cloistered lives. Not a lot has changed since then. We are drawn to Divine love and drawn to those who listen with discerning ears. Spiritual direction is the practice of being with people as they deepen their relationship with the God. It is the oldest methodology for healing one's soul and responsible for millions of people through thousands of generations who have experienced Divine freedom and the value of true self.
*** Want to know more? look no further than two men, John Cassian and Evagrius Ponticus. Both men wrote extensively on the movement and practice of spiritual direction.

J.R.’s 13 Principles of Spiritual Direction
God is love.
Every human heart longs to be loved.
We must learn to love, both give and receive.
The heart is designed to break.
Ego and fear are absent of love and divinity. They are best friends, not your friends.
Humans are aware of their “stuff.” Our relationships with God, community and self is predicated on how willing we are to spiritually transform said “stuff.”
Vulnerability is the key to spiritual transformation.
Sorrow and joy by themselves will not lead to spiritual transformation, but force the hand of willingness for change.
People, places and things will not make you happy.
You can not “believe” alone.
Faith will evolve or die.
Wisdom is the applied science of spiritual direction.
Spiritual maturity is the absence of duality, undefended with nothing to prove and nothing to lose.
