Reflection and illumination

Reflection and illumination are constants in the life that loves. How do you see yourself? Not how do you think of yourself, but reflectively, how do you hold or take in the person you are? Do you have a measuring stick or accountability for the thoughts you have, your actions, your service into community or love you give? Every wisdom tradition or religion has their methodology to “center” or “true self,” but the one constant for us all is love. How we receive it and how we give it. When we love; when we think selflessly, act selflessly, emote selflessly, we are bound to the law of self reflection and illumination. Loving others drives us to self examination, greases the skids to love more, pumps up the volume of a life that is prone to wander. Now, I am not suggesting loving sacrificially is the magic bullet for all self examination understanding, but it's pretty damn close. You want a good idea of you? Get up and love. The hardest questions I’ve ever had to answer are who do I love and why? We are called to love, but most of us love the easy ones in our lives, the ones who don't force us into the mirror or reflect our selfish desires. Instead, we are careful with care, staying away from those who will stretch us into the uncomfortable, into the uncontrollable risk of love and relationships. Who do you love? Who won't you love? Who would you rather judge than love? Who already receives your judgement instead of your love? These questions can buckle you and I hope they do, for it’s in this space that we truly come to know our true self. Do you want to know how you tick? Do you want a true version of who you are? Love! Love without conditions or theology, or methodology. Just love. Don’t love more, don't love better, just love. Even if it’s hard.

Who won’t you love?

Are you interested in spiritual direction? Here’s how to get started.

Step 1. Schedule a complimentary, no-obligation consult. Do that here.

Step 2. Watch your email for questions from me. Before we hop on the phone, I’d like to know a bit about you and what you’d like to get out of spiritual direction or coaching with me.

Step 3. Hit “reply” to that email and answer the questions.

Step 4. At the scheduled time of your consult, we’ll talk! We’ll use the opportunity to make sure we’re the perfect fit.

Step 5. Then we’ll get started! If you decide to work with me, I’ll tell you the exact steps for getting started. If you decide not to work with me or if we aren’t a perfect fit, I’m happy to share other resources to help you get what you need.
