Don't Be Content With The God You Have Now
I was a kid when I met God. No one introduced me. I didn't say a prayer. Didn't read a scripture. In fact it would be years until I picked up a Bible. That day was filled with a crazy, loving, all consuming connection whose energy seemed to inhabit every inch of me, this world and universe. I was touched by undeniability. I didn't have a name for the Divine but knew the touch was real. My encounter helped form NOT how I define God, but how big God is. Over and over as I grew I found God everywhere. In my friends, family, the natural world, my addiction to alcohol, my subsequent sobriety, the pains and trauma of the past, the joy that erupts in gratitude for who I am, who you are and our connection to love. My awareness of God is constantly changing. As a result my relationship with him/her/love is constantly evolving. For example, years ago I would have insisted God was male until I realized the scriptures refer to God in the feminine more than a few times. Bigger than that, I've always deeply experienced God both male and female, both Mother and Father. My consciousness with you also changes as I chase that sweet undeniability. I learn to receive your love. I learn how to give you love. I must admit, I’m never content with the God I know now. I am always seeking to listen deeper, experience longer, expose myself more with nothing to prove and nothing to lose, living undefended, fully alive in her grace, mercy and love.
