The Great Poignant COVID Wait
poign·ant
/ˈpoin(y)ənt/
adjective
evoking a keen sense of sadness or regret.
That about sums up March, right? Waiting as a spiritual lesson can be poignantly excruciating. In fact, I would say a pain in the ass at every spiritual level! We are a drive thru, Amazon ordering, timely delivery method driven society and lockdown screws with the flow. We’ve got stuff to do. Or do we? We have killed waiting. Waiting has become inconvenience. Waiting is un-American. Not waiting is convenience and that convenience comes with a cost. From Mcdonald's to corporate farming, our need for immediacy has destroyed a very spiritual principal. Without waiting we lose seasons. We lose longing. We lose hope. We lose memory. We lose the present. We lose our sense of self. We lose community. We lose identity. We lose the idea of change. We lose God. Think about it…March was a damn marathon and no doubt you felt every...second. But, I could also imagine you've gained a deeper sense and appreciation for this time. Time with family. Time to connect with those you love. Time to consider passions left. Time to dream. Time to reimagine. Time to seek the presence and peace of God. Time to roam in nature. Time to contemplate waiting. All while waiting.
How will you wait?
