Spiritual Aggression
A noted Christian evangelical pastor/radio host interviewed me one time and called me foolish. His criticism was based on my work with people in the sex industry. At the time I wanted to tell the tone deaf, short sighted idiot to fuck himself! I did not. In all honesty there are days I'd still like to. But again, I will not. I have no clue what happened to that little man. Again, if I’m being honest I care a little. Part of me wants justice for his spiritual aggression. His shaming and guilting of people into his dogmatic approach to love. I was hurt by his comments. He questioned my work. He seeded me with doubt about “how” I was loving people. I was young. I was still looking to prove and convince myself legit, valued and worthy of the work I was doing. You mattered, he mattered, everyone mattered. I had very little understanding of true self. Unfortunately there are times today I still take the bait and walk that very plank. Turns out that need for justice is nothing more than contempt for little man or simply put… it’s my problem, not his. My contempt runs the risk of becoming spiritually aggressive. The sting of that last sentence sucks! It hits the ego and bucks against the life I truly desire today. One of peace, contentment, filled with grace with nothing to prove and nothing to lose. I wish it wasn't so but with little man, I have work to do.
