Prayer Breeds Coherence
For most, prayer exhausts wants, needs and desires. We look upward hoping to be heard; hoping the “want” finds its way into our bank account, relationship or career track. Yes, the Divine is ok with the “ask,” but we can broaden the relationship by simply listening while in “prayer.” Prayer is a two-way street inviting us into common sense conversation that seeks both coherence and wisdom. Simply put, it's more than just guesswork when you allow the Divine to speak. Hearing God means you will have to put aside “self” long enough to take in silence and that in 2020, will be a chore. Silence has been handed a death sentence since we’ve discovered a way to occupy every minute of our day through digital means. I pray for pardon. I pray for commutation. I pray we value silence as a way to wisdom as much as we value our desperation that leads us to prayer. For the record, there is no wrong way to pray, no wrong way to listen. The Divine knows you, understands the situations that need divine help. It’s not just his/her job to listen. Prayer may not change your circumstances but it will change you. As you build routine in prayer you will find coherence and wisdom. You may pray anywhere at anytime. Simply, invite the Divine into your current circumstances and ask questions, then… listen.
