Faith Crisis

You don't have a crisis of faith. You have an ego that bucks against your natural desire to receive and give love. You can't lose faith. Back-sliding is not a thing and God, for the record, expects you to walk away. Wandering is a “thing” but it does not mean we lose our faith. Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. At some point in our American theological training we were taught that faith is like a wallet and we can lose it; like a bag we leave on the bus or something we can forget like high school Geometry. Faith is not an item on Amazon. It's not a book you read and it's not a guy on Sunday filling you up slowly over the course of your lifetime. Faith is your eyes, your ears, your ability to love and feel. Faith is the hope in your belly that you achieve that dream or finish that goal. Faith is the relationship you want to save after a devastating affair. Faith is how you love that dear friend even if they don't reciprocate. Faith is the way you pray in the car going to work, hoping your mom is healed from cancer. Faith is the way you look in the mirror despising what you see and asking God to be loved. Faith is the way you love your kids even when your expectations about their success are blown apart. Faith is the passion that burns in you and your need for it to be seen and heard. Faith is the longing to love like God. faith is the desire to receive love. Faith is the want to join everything and have everything join you. Faith is the way you read this and feel God sitting with you now; loving you, wanting you, calling you to peace knowing He is so much larger than anything you face today. Faith is you. You are faith. You grow it! You don't lose it.

What grows your faith?
