Embracing The Commonality Of Suffering Is Divine Love
Hats off to the 12 step community. Embracing the commonality of suffering in order to find recovery and joy is simply Divine genius. For years 12 step groups have been pounding out what arguably has been the most significant spiritual movement in the United States. One day at a time, stepping into the needs of others under a few central conditions: embracing a God of your own understanding and giving “it” away to keep it. Their ways are simple ways. They believe in experience, strength and hope to be the bedrock holding their growth and success. I’d love to chuck a rock through the stained glass of the American church with a note attached reading, “Go to a meeting. Embrace suffering. Allow love to flourish among a God who does not have the egoic concern about name or title and give way to a spiritual sobriety.”
What do you suffer from and how can you create joyful recovery around it?
Are you interested in spiritual direction? Here’s how to get started.
Step 1. Schedule a complimentary, no-obligation consult. Do that here.
Step 2. Watch your email for questions from me. Before we hop on the phone, I’d like to know a bit about you and what you’d like to get out of spiritual direction or coaching with me.
Step 3. Hit “reply” to that email and answer the questions.
Step 4. At the scheduled time of your consult, we’ll talk! We’ll use the opportunity to make sure we’re the perfect fit.
Step 5. Then we’ll get started! If you decide to work with me, I’ll tell you the exact steps for getting started. If you decide not to work with me or if we aren’t a perfect fit, I’m happy to share other resources to help you get what you need.
