Communion Isn't Funeral

As a kid I would seek communion in the woods. Wandering all day intimately connected to the earth and the Divine. Celebrating and always remembering the brilliant union between myself and God. The forest fed me and filled my practice of gravitating to God with peace and curiosity. The day before Jesus was killed he gathered his disciples and asked them to remember him through the eating of bread and the drinking of wine. Joyously solemn, Jesus knew what was ahead of him. He knew what was in store for his friends, knew there was a need to stay connected after his exit. It was a celebration of friendship and intimate connection. It was a proclamation to never be too far off. It is the chance to practice, build, teach and disciple the way to love.
