A Bar And House Of Worship On Every Corner
In the town I live in, and I guarantee the town you live in, there is one giant thing in common. A church and a bar on opposite corners. This suggests as humans we are not unaware of who we are and what we need. For the record, I hold both of these places in the highest esteem. Both communities fondling the edges of who we are; serving safety and protection. Both holding very distinctive places of importance to the spiritual journey. As flippant as this may be, I turn to your journey with both these establishments. How have you used your local bar? How have you used your local church? How have these environments served you? How have you served them? Who have you brought to these places? How many times do you go? Does everyone know your name? How many times have you celebrated inside their walls? What are your greatest memories? How many conversations have you had with God in each? It's certainly not fair to pick one over the other, but you may. Have you ever committed to not going again? Have you ever tried a new one, an old one? Ever thought of starting one? Have you ever been kicked out of one? Have you thought the people that run the joint suck? And finally have you ever said, “I could do without both?” Again, these places are prepared to provide safety for the soul. We are not unaware of what we need.
