Your Voice One
When was the first time you realized you had a “voice?” That wonderful essence of what's true and “right” about you. Or, how hard are you currently searching or working to hear your voice? In spiritual circles we talk about voice in terms of “true self.” Who you are. Spiritual direction revolves around the willingness to listen deeply to what’s going on between you and the Divine. That willingness is the doorway to “voice.” This is not me selling my services just looking to turn your radar on so you have a better opportunity to hear your voice. Finding who you are or true self is amazingly freeing and of course life changing. I will caution you. Most Americans think “voice” or true self revolves around career or how they make money. I urge you to run from any philosophies, processes or methodologies that make that thought the hallmark of their practice or teaching. It's simply bullshit. That doesn't mean your voice can't make you money. Oftentimes it will. Yay! Remember true self is essence; a determining factor of character, personality, heart, mind and soul. It takes courage to dive deep and hear its call. Here are few ways to start the movement to find your voice or continue to build on what you already know.
Practice Silence, meditation or stillness
Centering prayer
Meditation apps
Contemplation groups

What is your greatest fear?
What makes you sad?
What is your most treasured possession?
Who do you like to hang out with?
What do you like to read?
Allow spiritual curiosity. If you want to pray, pray. If you want to study, study. If you want to go to church, go to church. You can’t screw curiosity up!
Engage in spiritual direction.
