The Most Segregated Day of the Week
The most segregated day of the week. Sunday. The most discriminatory meeting places in America are churches, synagogues and mosques. Corporate America’s got nothin’ on faith communities. Faith groups have been stomping on “race relations” for years. Selling their souls to protect the bottom line all in the name of God. Yes! I know your church doesn't do that! Your church has a group that feeds the homeless. Your synagogue has a food pantry that donates to inner city neighborhoods. Your Mosque gives cash to rehab broken city blocks. I get it! But! This Sunday look around while praising your God. What color is everyone? What socio-economic background is everyone? Where does everyone live? Where is everyone going to lunch after service and with who? How and who will you spend the days in between the next service? It’s not enough to pray anymore. We need the faithful to step up and end oppression by moving asses off of segregated pews and into the communities where they belong.
How does your faith community love people?
