Our Cry

In the last week I have been deeply moved by one thought. What is God hearing from us collectively? Our cries pinging against the walls of heaven jumping up and down in delirious panic. There are the cries to be normal again. There are the cries for more money, food and disinfectant. There are the cries to save a job. Cries to keep loved ones safe. Cries to heal people from this virus and cries of mourning from those who have lost people to COVID-19. But the thought that weighs most heavy on my mind: the cry without the net of God. The cry that thinks it will go unheard, unanswered, unknown. This moment demands our cries and heaven expects the sound to be a deafening gong within such uncertainty. Allow your cry to be heard not just by God, but by your family and friends and community. Your cries are the cries of your neighbor. Your cry is a collective sorrow begging to be heard. Listen! Look at Facebook, the media, your texts messages, phone calls. We need one another. We are looking for hope. Our cries are looking for hope. God is asking us to listen. God is asking us within this uncertainty to grab one another and love folks into hope. God is asking us to get creative and lead people out of darkness. God is asking us to hear HIS cry TOO, “Love one another!”

What is your prayer?

How do you hear the Divine?

What is God asking of you?
