Inch Deep, Mile Wide
Sometimes it feels an inch deep, mile wide. Sometimes I sit looking at the blinking cursor hating everything it will or might say. My work at times seems foolish, seems built on thinly made premises. Sometimes ego and fear have their way with me. I place a lot of stock in the Divine. Her movement in me. My movement in Him. Sometimes it all feels like bullshit. Sometimes hope turns on a dime and looks like political press conferences. Sometimes my humanity beats me against every spiritual rock I've overturned. Sometimes every book on my desk and all those I have yet to crack could easily be the fuel for the next bomb fire. It is the course of this work as you look deep inside, as you look into the night sky, as you watch your tears race down the sorrowful feelings of a longing to love and be loved. Most days don't cultivate such words, but sometimes they do, paving over everything you've come to love and cherish, stuffing them into a parking lot that's an inch deep and mile wide.
