Love Alone
Can you love “alone,” away from the crowds, away from the phone, the likes, attention, appreciation, success, prestige and power? We are captivated with seeking approval or double tapping to give it. The question becomes, can we hold time for ourselves, appreciating who we are and the person in the mirror? If the answer is no let's take stock of that answer. Let's have an honest conversation about the killing going on in our souls that leads us to people, substances and dogmas to make us feel worthy and valuable. I struggle with anger and contempt. For years it's been a problem. It leaves me out of step, out of touch and deaf to any incoming love. My struggle can leave me feeling like shit about myself as I reflect on the damage created. Over time, with good direction I have learned to receive love regardless of the struggle. It came at the cost of sitting with the Divine alone. Me and her, me and him, me and the energy of love birthing new consciousness; new life that reconciles the person I AM and not the person I want to become. How? A lot of talking, praying, contemplating, reading and letting go of what I think you are thinking of me and the judgment that I force onto myself. That last one; the hardest one. Can you hold time for yourself? Can you look in the mirror and find you? Not others and what they need or want from you, but YOU. The good, bad and ugly?
